Bowling Alley Chic in the Twin Cities
Grumpy's Bar and Grill, a long-standing institution in the Twin Cities, was looking to redesign their website. Lemon reached out to me to provide visual direction and a few assets for the project. The notes given to me were "like an old bowling alley, but modern", and it was amazing to design using energetic colors and be able to tap into a rich visual history.
I went through fabrics and furniture of diners and bars, make sure to tap into Minnesota's long history of neon signs. The final result were designs that leaned in hard to the bold color contrasts while the layout was simple, easy to navigate no matter you stage of inebriation, and gave you a sense of the kind of bar you'd be walking into before taking your first step out the door.
